Hundreds of outdoorspeople came out in the rain to check out the brand new Bass Pro Shops Outpost in Dartmouth Crossing, which opened Wednesday night to much fanfare.
The 50,000-square-foot store, packed to the brim with fishing, hunting and other outdoor gear, swarmed with people during its opening night, with the line for the cash register stretching around the store’s perimeter at one point.
“It’s probably going to take two or three days to check out what’s in here, it’s pretty huge,” said Harry Kelly, a fly fisher and kayaker.
“It’s a massive crowd, a massive store, and lots of things to look at.”
The Outpost, which also houses a Cabela’s, kicked off its first night with an “Evening for Conservation” event, where half of all proceeds that night will be divvied up between the Canadian Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited Canada, the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters, and Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium.
